Peanut likes to stand beside the bed, making slight snorty whistling noises until I get up. If this gets no response, she might put both front paws on the mattress, perhaps under the mistaken impression that the snorty whistling has not been heard.
And at this time of year, when it is cold, I might allow one arm out from under the duvet, to pat her on the head for a while before getting up.
