I recorded a short voice message for you. Transcript below, just in case the audio doesn’t work.
Transcript (with added links and footnotes):
Hello Alison – I’m delighted that you’re here listening to this because it means that you must have received the book I sent in the post. I sent it to you because you work at a very senior position in learning and development.
As for me, I do a lot of different creative things – I’m an author and artist and performer. This book came out of my own breakdown, in 2017. I had to persuade my psychiatrist to let me out of hospital so that I could deliver a talk that I was already booked to deliver, at an AGM in Sheffield. To find out what happened, read the book!
My literary agent said afterwards I should write a book about public speaking. I didn’t want to write a (forgive me) bullshitter’s guide so A Modest Book About How To Make An Adequate Speech is the title I came up with.
Anyway, the point is that I deliver a lot of training and one-to-one coaching in commercial law firms1, and I hope you might bear that in mind, because it helps to subsidise less lucrative other creative work. Please give me a call!
Thank you for looking in. Your attention is precious.
1 Training in law firms. Among other things:
- a series of illustrated talks, starting at Slaughter and May, about my breakdown, eliciting feedback like this.
- this online talk about public speaking, for Mishcon de Reya. It was live on LinkedIn, and open to all.
- interactive talks / workshops about Impact+Presence, to (for example) 50+ senior associates at a Magic Circle firm
If you would like to discuss anything, please send me an email and we can set up a call or (better) a meeting in person.
