A Speccy Man Has A Breakdown - day 35
Proof copies (also Brecht)
Just now sent the pages to be printed as a paperback “publisher’s proof”. One for me, and a few extra to send to people who might be able to provide some kind of relevant quote on the book’s cover.
Meanwhile, I’ve also put together a new page about the book. I’m not sharing this with absolutely everyone, right now – just people who have actually bought or pre-ordered a copy of the book. If you are curious, you can look at that new page here.
One of the people who provided a quote was in today’s Writer’s Support Group, so I had the chance to show her the page while it was still warm.
Can I just say: this has been tricky at times but I’m absolutely loving it: the gathering of material, shaping, adjusting, standing back to assess the tone, and (more than all that) the sense of dialogue and generally being sustained by the process of sending out emails about this.
I’m a big one for showing process, capturing process. I just like to look at it, think about it.
I suppose that’s what I was doing in hospital, drawing my experiences to “alienate” myself from them (in the sense used by Brecht, I’m sure you’re familiar, isn’t everyone terribly familiar with the works of Bertolt Brecht).
I see I’m being flippant now. Not necessarily a bad sign but may be an indicator that it’s time for me to pop out and walk Peanut.

It’s sniffing time again.
