A Speccy Man Has A Breakdown - day 33
Sharing it with The People Who Matter Most
Took a few days off. Was quite a lot of work, in March, putting all this together. Just contemplating the material was quite hard at times.
I was delighted to meet the self-imposed deadline, but needed to let it sink in a bit before sharing it with anyone. The big problem was never content: I had lots of that. It was about tone. Making the book serious enough, but not too serious.
It’s very hard to see this material in particular through anybody else’s eyes.
But yesterday (Sunday) I shared it with one of The People Who Matter Most and was glad to receive a positive response. And I mean: phew. Because otherwise I might have been thinking about giving people refunds today, retreating into oblivion.
As things stand, the book contains 124 pages.
I told you I was getting a paperback copy printed and I’m sorry to say that I chickened out, didn’t do that, because I knew I needed first to consult The People Who Matter Most. So please forgive the delay but hey. Now that I’ve done that, I’m thinking it might be a good idea to print more than one paperback, as a kind of publisher’s proof copy, and send it to a few people who might just possibly give me a quote for the book jacket or something.
Also, I have not yet successfully ordered ISBNs even though I sounded so terribly confident about that at the beginning of the month. The people who sell these, in the UK, are called Nielsen. To make the order I must give all kinds of details that I just hadn’t thought about yet, such as what to call myself as a publisher. For a moment I thought maybe Speccy Man Books. But that’s very quirky. So then I thought something more boring like JPF. But that’s very boring.
Doesn’t sound like a big deal, but I’m in the grip of indecision.
I’m glad to be back in your inbox. Thank you for having me.
As mentioned last time, I have a list of people who pre-ordered or have paid. If you’re on that list and would be happy to find your name inside the book, please just drop me a line to confirm.
If you haven’t bought a copy yet, it’s not too late. Buying options and shipping costs are here.
Just 216 copies remaining. Know someone who’d like one? Please pass this on.
