Speccy Man delivery service

Today and yesterday, in record heat, I successfully ordered postage for the first 90 copies of A Speccy Man Has A Breakdown.

(I know! Give the man a medal!)

I had to do it in batches of 20 owing to a peculiarity of the delivery service I used, Evri.

And then I carried the batches to our friendly nearby parcel shop to print off labels using a QR code thingy.

I walked in shade where that was possible:

Smiling Speccy JPF carrying a pile of books, wearing shorts and Birkenstock sandals.

And as you can clearly see I wore Birkenstock sandals to get a bit of fresh air around the place.

Each heap included parcels for the UK, for Europe and for the Rest of The World. I can tell you as a very interesting fact that each parcel weighs <500g and measures 23 cm x 17 cm x 3 cm.

I memorised this fascinating truth by writing it down and sticking it on the wall by my computer:

Handwriting with the dimensions, above a photo of parcels with labels.

After making the order I was informed that many (all?) of the overseas buyers will be charged some kind of duty or tariff which is very annoying but perhaps not surprising to you.

What a swizz, as people used to say.

I have sent emails to most individuals affected by this surcharge, but in case I missed anyone please allow me to repeat here: I will be glad to refund the charge – just let me know what it is.

I would feel ecstatic about getting all these parcels sent out – postage has been a huge worry – except I’m too hot to feel anything like pleasure right now.

The best I can manage is the flippancy you have perhaps already enjoyed enough by now.
