This is the publisher I visited last week, as reported in a previous post that showed only photos. While I was with Charles Boyle, I made many sketches using pen on paper, and, one picture using my iPad which lets me work with vibrant colour quickly.
The picture on this page was worked up later, at home, working from photos. I started with ink on paper, then (don’t ask me why) cheap Crayola wax crayons, then more ink.
Then I took a photo and mucked about with it digitally, on the iPad, adding colour and detail here and there.
You can see the difference between the analogue drawing and the digital already, I’m sure. It’s even clearer in this close-up:
