The Magic Of Making Marks On Paper

Interesting how powerful it can be to sketch something and write a few words with it.
I remember exactly where I was when I sketched this – on a train returning from a literary festival in Scotland, passing through Lancashire.
I looked out of the window and saw a cloud formation that was beautifully shaped, and coloured. I only had a graphite pencil with me, so I sketched the shape and made notes of the colours. Then when I got home I used wax crayons and a black pen to add definition to the foreground.
It’s one of many one-page books I’ve made over the years: a single sheet of A4, folded to make eight sides.
I have no idea what the words at the bottom mean: “Put in layered box – big – five layers”.
