I need to put something down somewhere – here! on this page! – as a marker about my Outstagram and LinkedOut posts.
A marker that I can link back to later, as needed.
What it is:
Like many people I look back on the social media years as somewhat… lost.
I posted enthusiastically, engaged, liked, commented etc only to find that the platforms became crummier and crummier.
I kick myself for not having done what others did: post to my own site first, then syndicate elsewhere. There’s a name for this, an acronym: POSSE.
For the last year or 18 months I’ve tried to make up for that by painstakingly posting here first and only sharing more widely afterwards.
When I do that, I sometimes put blog posts in a category to indicate (to myself as much as anybody) that it’s the kind of thing I might once have posted to such-and-such a social media platform.
Thus, what might previously have been posted to Instagram becomes (here) “Outstagram”:
And what might previously have been posted to LinkedIn becomes “LinkedOut”.

I’ve also gone out and fetched back some of material that was posted on social media. But to date I’ve only done that manually, with things that happened to come to mind and I went looking for them – not a speedy business.
At some point I may use developer tools to import everything properly from the platforms, as a vast JSON file, then have Claude or another LLM interpret it so that I can repost whatever seems worth reposting.
