Not forgetting the email exchanges

One of my wishes with this blog is to provide real-time updates on what is actually going on with my work in progress. It’s tempting to forget some parts of that, as if the email exchanges etc don’t really count.

Well, today I had an email from the picture desk at the Guardian Magazine asking about setting up a shoot for a portrait photo to go with the piece I’ve written about my 2018 breakdown.

The picture editor provided links to two photographers whose work looks terrific, with a gallery of portraits that includes Percival Everett, Brian Cox, Gary Younge, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, David Nicholls and Sadiq Khan.

I replied that I would be glad to be photographed by either photographer.

Additionally, I hope the magazine will use a range of drawings from my book, A Speccy Man Has A Breakdown. I offered to send the picture editor a copy.
