Nah

Just come off Zoom, having had a great chat with someone I never met before. She signed up for one of the weekly Unoffice Hours slots I make available in my calendar. I’m really pleased she did that – it would have been so easy to think, nah.

I won’t identify the person but can say that she lives and works in a city in the north of England. We started with no agenda, heard a little about what we’ve both been up to in the last few hours, days, weeks. Then we talked about certain projects that keep us busy.

After half an hour, we said bye. Simple as that.

Generally feeling terrific to have created1 this slot, and have now created a little logo for it:

Photo of a bits of paper on a cutting board, one featuring an illustration of a sign reading 'Unoffice Hours', the other showing two mugs on a table.

And, in fact, while I’m being so creative, here’s a formatted thingy I’ll slip into my newsletter:

1 Created this slot. That is, grateful to Matt Webb for inventing it.
