Last week I joined @estellelovatt on one of her regular tours of Hampstead through the eyes of John Constable, who lived here for many years.
I was particularly interested to hear that he painted “The Haywain” in a shed at the back of his little terraced Hampstead cottage.
I mashed up this image (above) on my iPad using the marvellous Procreate app, and screenshots from Google street view.
He may well have based the cart on sketches made at nearby Whitestone Pond, Estelle said, holding up her iPad.
We ended the tour at Constable’s grave, in Hampstead Parish Church.
