In East Asian Buddhism, Avalokiteśvara is most often depicted as a female figure and goes by other names, such as (in China) Kwanyin.
Certain living tulku lineages, including the Dalai Lamas and the Karmapas, are considered by many Tibetan Buddhists to also be manifestations of Avalokiteśvara / Kwanyin.
This statue previously belonged to Mrs Peggy Parker, who supplied some of this info but mostly it’s from Wikipedia.
