Went to Manchester. Stopped in the Peak District on the way back.

One of my heroes is the Victorian artist and critic John Ruskin. He disapproved of building a railway line through such a place of beauty.
The railway has gone now, but the viaduct remains, for walkers and cyclists. It may have looked even better before, but it’s still beautiful.
