Special Projects Newsletter | July 2021

Where We Are

I went away last week, to Dorset. We stayed in a cottage where the ceilings and doors were incredibly low. I thought it might amuse you to see:

I’m happy to report that Special Projects members already cover three continents:

  • east Asia,
  • Europe (the continent, plus me here in the UK), and
  • the Americas.

This is terrifically exciting, and also poses a few challenges on scheduling.

Livestreams

I promised to do livestreams: working online, in real time, on projects supported by SP members. I invite you to join me.

To meet the needs of the various time zones, I’ll do one in the morning (my time) and one in the afternoon. The Zoom link is the same every time.

Typically, they’ll be on the second Tuesday in the month – but not EDIT: August or October. The dates are as follows:

EDITED 17 Aug 2021 8.15 to 8.45am | 5pm to 5.30pm (UK times)
Click here for the Zoom link

14 Sept 2021 8.15 to 8.45am | 5pm to 5.30pm (UK times)
Click here for the Zoom link

5 Oct 2021 8.15 to 8.45am | 5pm to 5.30pm (UK times)
Click here for the Zoom link

9 Nov 2021 8.15 to 8.45am | 5pm to 5.30pm (UK times)

14 Dec 2021 8.15 to 8.45am | 5pm to 5.30pm (UK times)

I hope to see you there. If I get my act together I might even let you know in advance specifically what I’m working on each time.

Office Hours Calendar

I’d love to meet you and say hello. I’ve created a Calendly page just for Special Projects members so that you can book a one-to-one with me.

I’m unsure how long I’ll be able to do this as the membership grows, but there should be enough slots to go round, for now, if you don’t book more than one session in advance.

We can talk about anything you like.

The Calendly page is here. It should be fairly straightforward, but if you have any problems please let me know.

The Year Ahead

Last week, staying in the low-ceilinged cottage, I spent time drawing up a calendar for the year to come. It’s incomplete, but I’m posting it here so you can see how full it is already:

If you look closely, you’ll see that I handwrote it on a 2018 calendar, which was a bit silly but didn’t really matter because I just wanted a sense of how to juggle lots of things, and create some gaps (August, late Dec).

The double pink circles are livestreams, the blue circles are office hours.

The green bit in September is a course in public speaking; the blue through October is a romp through my book How To Change The World 10 years after I wrote it (I may do that as a pop-up newsletter, or as a podcast series, not quite sure); and the red in early December is to take commissions for art as Christmas presents.

Feel a bit exposed putting it here, but also supported because I have you as my witness!
