In case you missed my previous note, you’re invited:
Portraits by John-Paul Flintoff

PRIVATE VIEW, TUESDAY 18 AUGUST 2026
6pm to 8pm
Burgh House, New End Square, London NW3 1LT
There was no launch party for A Speccy Man Has A Breakdown, and this is my way to thank people like you who backed the book.
Please reply to this email if you can make it, so I know who to look out for.
After that, the show is free to visit, from Wednesday 19 to Saturday 23 August, 10am to 4pm.
If you can’t come – because you’re not in London, or you’re away that week, or life is happening – the show is also unfolding online, one portrait at a time. A few starting points:
- The whole set of portraits as they go live: Contain Multitudes
- The arc behind it – from a reporter’s notebook to a sketch pad
- Where it started: Ayla Lepine, the priest who commissioned me to draw her congregation and turned my work outward.
You backed A Speccy Man Has A Breakdown. Whether you come to Burgh House or not, this show is my way of saying thank you.
