I wouldn’t want one

I’ve had some lovely conversations in the last few days but today has not started well:

Soon after opening, two people walk round the empty gallery, look at every picture but don’t once look at me – and as they walk out one says “I wouldn’t want one”.

What am I doing here.

And immediately afterwards came a woman who didn’t look at a single picture but denounced me for using an iPad – Constable would be turning in his grave over in Church Row, apparently – and it seems I’ve somehow put him out of a job.

2.15pm. Happily things picked up immediately for the better, so much better, but I’ll leave this here for the record.
