Well, I opened the boxes and removed the crumpled brown paper that had been squished inside as packaging, pulled out the top copy of my book and -
My heart sank. The dust jacket wasn’t right.
I rummaged for other copies of the book, further down. All the same.
And in the other boxes too.
I’d submitted artwork for the dust jacket to the exact dimensions specified. Checked again and again.
But the jacket that came back was too big – standing almost a centimetre above the book itself.


I guess it just hadn’t been cut correctly.
The dust jacket on several copies was already bent.

I got in touch with the printer, asked them to reprint all 90 dust jackets, and to be sure the next batch – already in production – will not have the same problem.
