Weeknote 8 of 12 | w/e 22 Feb 2026

Weeknote: a chance to look back on the week that finished and plan for the week ahead.

Writing this a week late so keeping it v short.

Main things to report about the week that has just gone include:

  1. I’m failing to keep to the ideas of the 12 Week Year, which inspired these weeknotes.
  2. For instance, I had to miss the check in with T and P.
  3. And I’m not routinely reading back over my long-, medium- and 12-week goals, so how can I hope to meet them?
  4. I’ve not drawn up any kind of Actions For This Week list, so I can’t know if I’m doing what I meant to do.
  5. Having said that, I’m not exactly idle. I’ve been sending my weekly newsletter consistently which is a huge deal for me. I just need some kind of outlet to publish stuff, and I like doing it this way.
  6. I’m consistently sending outreach to people who might pay for my various kinds of work.
  7. Met Anabel C for the first time in YEARS after running into her at Tom H’s book launch. Gave me a reason to read again the story I wrote for the FT about the extraordinary travel we did.
  8. Unoffice Hours with CB. This weekly slot is turning out to be a great idea, and I’m so pleased I started it.
  9. Zoom with Andrew M about his book project, finished the first version and had copies sent to him.
  10. Created a new composite web page comprising all the parts of a prototype email series-with-static pages, based on the contents of the book. Used Claude to build anchor links between the various parts of that page, so that the whole series can be experienced in one place. This is a great idea! I’m going to do it again with some other email series I’ve written.
  11. Talked to Wendy in preparation for next week’s Arvon Memoir course.
  12. Went out for dinner with four friends from university, very happy to see them.
  13. Took Peanut to the vet because she’s scratching herself and grooming neurotically. As suspected: anal glands! Extremely unpleasant business for all concerned. Went home with the smell stuck in my nostrils. Sorry to end on that note but it is (as they say) what it is.
