Weeknote: a chance to look back on the week that finished and plan for the week ahead.
Found the whole “write a Weeknote” thing a bit overwhelming last week, so keeping this short.
Main things to report about the week that has just gone include:
- Submitted two works to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (a portrait and a composite image with somewhat comic side). Will obvs be delighted if they are accepted, either of them or both
- I needed help with the composite image and worked with a layout designer I found on Upwork. I haven’t used Upwork before. All went smoothly, he was friendly and helpful and knew his stuff, but I experienced a very annoying glitch with the payment: I gave the right card number, have checked several times, but as soon as a payment leaves my bank it gets refunded back to me. This is annoying because I don’t want the designer I worked with to think I’m not paying.
- Went back to Soutine with H and N, this time late afternoon (twice in less than a week isn’t bad).
- Published another week of my newish JPF Weekly newsletter. Not at all sure that people want to receive it, but hey, I need a regular platform for my work and this is MY platform.
- Sent out a lot of copies of A Modest Book About How To Make An Adequate Speech, this week to people working in L&D, mostly in law firms.
- Oh yeah, and I published a whole series of (paid!) emails about the painstakingly human side of all that careful posting and messaging, which was great fun, I just love writing email series!
- Sent Ch. a physical book of the photos she sent me of her sister, with 18 blank pages out of 40, so she can add stories to complement the images.
- Sent Andrew M a page about the book we’ve been working on, and another page about how the book could fairly easily be turned into email series
- There may have been more but I am DONE for now!
