John-Paul Flintoff Homepage

Hello, Welcome.

John-Paul Flintoff, painting on Hampstead Heath

When did you last write your bio? Gosh, I find it hard.

I’m a writer, mostly, and an artist.

The first book I loved was about King Arthur. I read it all by myself when I was six, and when I finished I cried.

I like so many books. It’s agony to be asked for a favourite. One that had a huge influence, and led me to train with the author was Impro, by Keith Johnstone.

I collect quotes, writing them out by hand and sorting them, believe it or not, into different figures of speech – to adapt as models for something in my own writing later.

I live in London. My beloved schnauzer lies beside me as I type.

For many years, I was a journalist on the Financial Times and The Sunday Times of London.

I’ve published seven books. They’re available in 16 languages. They include fiction, illustrated poetry, memoir and non-fiction.
