This is a drawing, based on a family photo. I like it, just as it is.
I like that one too. But I find them both more interesting when I think about how they have been displayed on a kitchen wall, in an ad hoc gallery of snapshots.

This kind of gallery is part-random, part-curated. It’s fleeting. Every so often it changes, as one picture is taken down and replaced with another.
Making a drawing of it, at any particular moment, creates something more lasting.
